ABOUT

Zachary Al-Radiedeh (pronounced "al-ruh-DYE-deh") is an American euphoniumist and music educator currently residing in South Korea. His eclectic career in music began when he chose the euphonium in fifth grade, mistakenly thinking it was a French horn. Since then, he has performed a variety of idioms, from classical to punk to folk fusion. His diverse experiences have led him to a wide range of stages, including Strathmore Music Center, the 9:30 Club, and Mile High Stadium.

Zachary's teaching skills are evidenced by the success of his students who have earned sponsorships from major instrument manufacturers and won spots in several competitive honor bands and community ensembles. Outside of traditional private lessons, Zachary has built a reputation as a sought-after educator and consultant in the world of marching music. He has taken his experiences in top level ensembles, including the Troopers and Cadets2 Drum and Bugle Corps, and applied them as an engaging instructor for several ensembles, including the Towson University Marching Band, Pioneer Drum & Bugle Corps, and the Archer High School Marching Band.

Zachary is currently a member of the United States Army Bands, performing on euphonium and occasionally doubling on tuba. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Towson University and a Master of Music in Euphonium Performance from the University of Georgia, where he studied euphonium and tuba with Matthew Shipes and David Zerkel. Additionally, Zachary has studied euphonium with Seth Horner and James Hicks and trombone with Natalie Mannix. He has performed under the baton of several esteemed conductors and composers, including Jason Fettig, Johan de Meij, and Timothy Holtan.

"Zachary has been a fantastic instructor for my son who is new to the trumpet and has never taken lessons before. Zachary is a very encouraging teacher, and he communicates very well regarding scheduling. He has also kept lessons fresh and interesting for my fifth grader, sometimes bringing different instruments and teaching tools that keep my son engaged. "As a musician, Zac is above and beyond talented. Because of his proficiency and excellence, he offers great insight and helpful hints on how to play properly and with support, two extremely important parts of being a musician. Lastly, it is quite obvious what music means to him. His passion is inspiring, and makes me want to continue to pursue and practice my instrument. His lessons helped me develop from a second part to a first part, enabling me to play higher and more challenging parts for my band. Knowing that I was able to leave better than I started makes myself feel lucky and appreciative that I was able to take lessons with a person like Zac. Overall, one of the best music instructors I have had the pleasure of working with." — review by James on TakeLessons.com
